“Art is the courage to dream, the power to heal, and the eternal expression of beauty in an unfinished world.”
Arunas Rutkus
Arunas Rutkus is a distinguished Lithuanian painter born in Vilnius in 1961. He studied fresco, mosaic, and stained glass at the Vilnius Art Institute (now Vilnius Academy of Arts), graduating in 1985. Rutkus has been actively exhibiting his work since 1988, with his paintings showcased in galleries and private collections worldwide, from the USA to France. His work often explores themes of sensuality, mythology, and the female form, combining traditional and modern influences. His notable piece, "Leaf," is owned by renowned musician Sting.
Rutkus’ artistic style blends abstraction and symbolism, drawing inspiration from ancient mythology and figures like the Venus of Lespugue. His depictions of women reflect an aristocratic, mysterious sensuality, reminiscent of the Pre-Raphaelites and Symbolists like Rossetti and Klimt. His intricate details, warm color palette, and use of accessories such as masks and veils add depth and dimension to his portraits, turning them into unique works of visual abstraction. While his art echoes the precision of icon painting, it remains deeply rooted in the emotional and spiritual essence of feminine beauty.
Rutkus’ works have been exhibited in countries including the USA, UK, Italy, France, and Russia, and his pieces are sought after by collectors worldwide. His distinct approach has earned him a prominent place in the international art scene, making his works both timeless and captivating.
